Step 2 - Discuss events on your journey map with others

The faith journey map was created as part of a course designed for Wayne Presbyterian Church, Wayne, PA by David Henkin (on left in picture below), Julie Sheetz-Willard, Villanova University’s Interfaith Chaplain (center in picture below), Tony Holland and James Barnes. In “Finding God in the Faith of Others” participants listened to meaningful events from the journey maps of other participants.

In this “Finding God in the Faith of Others” program, we interviewed each other and listened for God in the other person’s Faith Journey. When listening, listen as intently as Rick and David are listening to the Rev. Julie Sheetz-Willard in the picture above and others are listening in the picture below. We also stood in different parts of the room depending on the portion of our life when we first: (i) remember clearly identifying with the world view we now hold, (ii) remember questioning the world view we grew up in, and (iii) identified a powerful commonality with someone with another worldview than our own. You do not have to be in a group to practice this listening, just find someone to listen to you. If they wish, you can both do the exercise.

Conversations in the two above mentioned facilitation formats were so rich that we didn’t use the interview tool below. Use it if it will help you.
