James Barnes came to America from England on a Morehead Scholarship in 1973 to study business at the University of North Carolina. Barnes founded his innovation consultancy because he has a passion for helping others succeed and he believes that creativity is an unlimited resource of great value to those who use it.

Barnes is testing the use of Idealized Design with Innovation and Individual Coaching to help individuals realize their dreams and make a difference while contributing to the future of their organization, team, community and family. Barnes is also testing the hypothesis that the unbridled ideas of young people can be of value to organizations and communities, Barnes developed "YouthStormers," which taps the skills of college and high school students with a flare for creativity to address tough challenges.
